BOLINGBROOK, IL SEPTEMBER 4, 2009 – Burgers grilled on an open fire.  It may not get much better than that.  It does get better though if those burgers are raising money for schools. 

Great Steaks and More, the retail outlet of Quantum Foods located in Bolingbrook, announces today that it has proudly invited celebrity chefs from the Valley View Schools to participate in a benefit cookout on Saturday, October 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The cookout will be held at the Great Steaks and More Store located at 257 S. Weber Road in Bolingbrook. 

Each Valley View District School participating in the cookout will have a designated time slot for its celebrity chef to participate.  The scheduling will spread the event traffic out throughout the day.  Burger lovers who donate a $1 or more will receive a freshly grilled Great Steak and More burger and a soft drink. 

Great Steaks and More will be donating all the event proceeds in addition to the burgers used to the Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation, the not-for-profit organization for the school district.  The Foundation will provide a share of funds raised each hour to the participating schools.

 “Great Steaks and More values quality education and this Valley View School District benefit cookout is our opportunity to show our support for the schools of Bolingbrook and Romeoville,” Allen Pratt, Great Steaks and More associate said.

“We have many customers who visit our store from these surrounding communities and we’re excited for this opportunity to give back.  We appreciate the support from all the Valley View families and friends and we wish the schools a successful cookout,” Pratt added.

 “We believe the cookout event will be great fun and it gives families a chance to sample some wonderful Great Steaks and More food while helping their schools”, said Mike Lawler, President, Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation.

According to Lawler, additional funds can be raised by families making in-store purchases at the Great Steaks and More Store through the “Shop-n-Share” event from September 28 through October 10.  A portion of those purchases will be added to the proceeds from the October 3 event.

Pratt contacted the Valley View School District this summer on behalf of Great Steaks and More with the idea for the benefit.  The cookout idea was well received by the school district and the Foundation and was approved.
